Rejuvenating Eyelid (Blepharoplasty) Surgery in Turkey
Are you struggling with droopy eyelids, under-eye bags, or puffiness? Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a highly effective cosmetic procedure designed to refresh and rejuvenate your eye area. Whether for aesthetic or medical reasons, this procedure can significantly enhance your overall appearance, giving you a youthful and well-rested look.
What Is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids. This helps improve vision obstructed by sagging skin while also providing a more youthful and refreshed facial expression.
Understanding Eyelid Aging: Why Do Eyelids Sag?
As we age, the delicate skin around the eyes begins to lose its elasticity due to a natural decline in collagen and elastin production. Over time, gravity, repeated facial movements, and external factors such as sun exposure, smoking, and poor skincare contribute to the loosening of the eyelid skin. The fat pads around the eyes may also shift forward, causing puffiness and under-eye bags. Additionally, the muscles supporting the eyelids weaken, leading to droopy upper eyelids (ptosis) and hollow or puffy lower eyelids. These changes can make a person look tired, older, or even obstruct vision in severe cases. While skincare and non-surgical treatments can provide temporary improvements, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is the most effective solution for restoring a youthful, refreshed appearance and improving eyelid function.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
- Ideal candidates for blepharoplasty include individuals who:
- Experience drooping or sagging eyelids
- Have puffy under-eye bags
- Suffer from impaired vision due to excess eyelid skin
- Are in good general health and have realistic expectations
How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
Eyelid surgery is a precise and delicate procedure that involves removing excess skin, fat, and muscle from the eyelids to create a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The process begins with anesthesia, which can be local with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the surgery. For upper eyelid surgery, the surgeon makes an incision along the natural crease of the eyelid to remove or reposition excess tissue before carefully closing the incision with fine sutures. In lower eyelid surgery, the incision is typically made just below the lash line or inside the lower lid (transconjunctival approach), allowing the surgeon to remove or redistribute fat to smooth out under-eye bags. The entire procedure usually takes one to two hours, and since the incisions are placed in natural folds or hidden areas, scarring is minimal. After surgery, patients can expect some swelling and bruising, which gradually subsides within a couple of weeks, revealing brighter, more youthful-looking eyes.
